# Image Vectorizer API

> Provider: **Pixazo**
> Source: https://www.pixazo.ai/models/image-vectorize-api

Trace a raster image into a true vector SVG with potrace — real editable paths, not a bitmap wrapped in an SVG tag. The source is flattened onto white and thresholded to black-and-white first, so this is built for logos, line art and silhouettes rather than photographs.

## Image Vectorizer 1.0

### Vectorize

## Base URL

```
https://gateway.pixazo.ai/media-tools/v1/image-vectorize
```

## Authentication

All requests require an API key passed via header.

**Pricing:** Billed at **$0.002 per image** — a flat rate per call, whatever the resolution of the source.

**Retries:** this is an asynchronous job on shared encoding capacity, so a request can occasionally come back `processing_failed` or take much longer than usual. These are transient and succeed on a retry, and a failed job is **never charged** — the wallet hold is released. If you chain these tools, retry a failed step rather than failing the whole pipeline.

## Webhook (Optional)

Add the `X-Webhook-URL` header to your generate request to receive a POST callback instead of polling.

```
X-Webhook-URL: https://your-server.com/webhook/callback
```

## Request Parameters - Image Vectorizer generate request

Parameter

Required

Type

Default

Allowed values / range

Description

image\_url

Yes

string

—

HTTP(S) URL to an image

The image to trace. Works on any raster format the converter accepts.

threshold

No

number

`50`

0 – 100

Where the black/white cut falls, as a percentage. Lower keeps only the darkest pixels; higher pulls more of the midtones into the traced shape.

The output is an **SVG** of real vector paths — editable in Illustrator, Figma or Inkscape — not a bitmap wrapped in an `<svg>` tag.

The source is flattened onto white and reduced to black and white before tracing, so this is built for **logos, line art, icons and silhouettes**. A photograph traces to a large, noisy path set rather than something useful. Transparent PNGs are flattened first on purpose: without it the whole image thresholds to black and traces as one giant rectangle. EXIF rotation is applied before tracing, since an SVG carries no orientation tag to correct it later.

## cURL Example

```
curl -H "Ocp-Apim-Subscription-Key: YOUR_API_KEY" \
                    → FAILED
                    → ERROR
```

## Typical Workflow

1. **Send a generate request** to the API endpoint
2. **Save the `request_id`** from the response
3.  **Poll** every 5-10 seconds: `GET /v2/requests/status/{request_id}`
4.  **When `status` is `"COMPLETED"`**, download from `output.media_url`

**Tip:** Use `X-Webhook-URL` header to get a callback instead of polling.
