Video Resize API - Resize Video to 720p, 1080p or Exact Size: Pricing, Documentation

by Pixazo

Video Resize API changes a video's resolution without changing how it looks. Presets target the SHORT side, so "720p" makes a vertical video smaller rather than blowing a small one up — and a source already below the preset passes through untouched, which is the behaviour most resizers get wrong. Give width and height together and the picture is fitted inside the box and padded, never stretched. Send a video_url, poll the request, then download the MP4. Billing is per second of the source video.

Video Resize 1.0 API Documentation

Authentication

All requests require an API key passed via header.

Pricing: Billed at $0.002 per second of input video — measured on the source you submit, not on the file returned. A 60-second video costs $0.12.

Rounding: billing is per second but always rounds up to a whole second — a 5.06-second source bills as 6 seconds. The shortest billable job is 1 second.

Retries: this is an asynchronous job on shared encoding capacity, so a request can occasionally come back processing_failed or take much longer than usual. These are transient and succeed on a retry, and a failed job is never charged — the wallet hold is released. If you chain these tools, retry a failed step rather than failing the whole pipeline.

Request Parameters - Video Resize generate request

Parameter Required Type Default Allowed values / range Description
video_urlYesstringHTTP(S) URL; ≤ 500 MB, ≤ 600 sPublicly reachable HTTP(S) URL of the source video.
presetConditionalenum480p, 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 4kResolution shortcut, sent exactly as listed (lower-case). Targets the short side and never upscales — a source already smaller passes through untouched, and 4k means a 2160 px short side. Supply preset or width/height: if either dimension is present preset is ignored, and a request with none of the three is rejected.
widthConditionalinteger16 – 7680 pixelsExact output width, as a JSON number (a quoted string is rejected). On its own, the height is derived from it so the aspect ratio is preserved. With height, the picture is fitted inside that box and padded with black — never stretched.
heightConditionalinteger16 – 7680 pixelsExact output height, as a JSON number. On its own, the width is derived from it so the aspect ratio is preserved. Use together with width to pad the video into an exact frame size.
