What are the Image Tools APIs?

The Image Tools APIs are Pixazo's programmatic image utilities — the operations you'd normally run in a desktop editor, exposed as simple API calls. Convert a phone photo out of HEIC into something the web can display, or turn a logo into a real vector SVG — each through a dedicated endpoint on the same Pixazo API and authentication.

Both run on Pixazo's own compute rather than a third-party provider, and both are billed at a flat $0.002 per image regardless of resolution — there is no per-megapixel surprise on a large source. Because every tool shares one gateway, key and job model, you can call them individually or chain them into a single workflow.

How do the Image Tools APIs work?

  1. Authenticate with your Pixazo API key — the same key across every tool.
  2. POST an image URL to the tool's endpoint with its options (target format, quality, threshold).
  3. The job runs asynchronously — poll its status URL until it completes.
  4. Download the result; your source file is never modified.

Frequently asked questions

What are the Image Tools APIs?
A set of Pixazo image utility endpoints — the Image Converter API and the Image Vectorizer API — that perform common image operations programmatically instead of in a desktop editor.
Are the Image Tools APIs available now?
Yes. Both are live and billing at a flat $0.002 per image, on the same Pixazo gateway as every other API.
Will my iPhone photos come back rotated?
No. The Image Converter applies the EXIF Orientation tag before stripping metadata, so a portrait shot stays portrait. Doing it the other way round deletes the rotation instead of applying it, which is the usual cause of sideways phone uploads.
What happens to transparency when I convert to JPG?
Transparent areas are flattened onto WHITE, not black. Formats without an alpha channel cannot carry transparency, and a black flatten is what turns a logo into a dark rectangle.
Is EXIF and GPS data removed?
Yes, by default. Metadata including GPS coordinates is stripped unless you explicitly ask to keep it, so you do not accidentally publish where a photo was taken.
What kind of images vectorize well?
Logos, line art, icons and silhouettes. The source is flattened and thresholded to black-and-white before tracing, so photographs produce a large, noisy SVG rather than a useful one.
Do the Image Tools use the same API key as the rest of Pixazo?
Yes. Every Image Tools API is on the same Pixazo gateway and uses the same key, so one integration covers all of them.
