The basics

What is a Midjourney prompt?

A Midjourney prompt is the line of text you give Midjourney’s AI to describe the image you want. The clearest prompts name the subject first, then the medium and style, the lighting and mood, and finally the parameters that control format — and every prompt in this collection is a tested starting point you can copy and adapt.

How a prompt works

Anatomy of a Midjourney prompt

Strong prompts stack their ideas in order — subject first, then medium, lighting and finally the parameters that control format and style. Here’s one broken into its parts:

cinematic film still of a lone astronaut on a red desert planet, golden hour, 35mm, shallow depth of field --ar 16:9 --style raw --v 7

Midjourney parameter cheat sheet

Parameters go at the end of a prompt and fine-tune the output. The most useful ones:

--arAspect ratioSets the width-to-height ratio — 16:9 for wide scenes, 9:16 for tall, 1:1 for square.
--vModel versionSelects the Midjourney engine; use the highest number for the newest model.
--style rawRaw modeDials back Midjourney’s default beautifying for more literal, photographic output.
--stylizeStylize0–1000 — how strongly Midjourney imposes its own artistic style.
--chaosChaos0–100 — how different the four starting options are from each other.
--noNegativeRemoves unwanted elements, e.g. “--no text, watermark”.
--seedSeedReuse a seed value to get a repeatable starting point.
--tileTileGenerates seamless, repeating patterns.

Questions

Midjourney prompting, answered

What is a Midjourney prompt?

It’s the text instruction you give Midjourney’s AI — subject, style, lighting, composition and optional parameters like --ar and --v. Every prompt here is a tested starting point you can copy and adapt.

Are these 99 prompts free?

Yes — free to copy and adapt. They’re collected from publicly shared prompts on promptlibrary.org and credited to their creators. Running them in Midjourney itself needs a Midjourney subscription.

How do I use them?

Copy a prompt and paste it into Midjourney (Discord or midjourney.com), or recreate the style in the Pixazo AI Image Generator. Then tweak the wording and parameters.

Why does my result look different?

AI image models are probabilistic and version-dependent — the same prompt yields a different image over time. Treat each example as a guide to the style, not an exact target.

What do --ar, --v and --stylize do?

--ar sets the aspect ratio, --v picks the model version, and --stylize controls how strongly Midjourney applies its own aesthetic. See the cheat sheet above.

Is Pixazo affiliated with Midjourney?

No. Midjourney is a trademark of Midjourney, Inc. Pixazo is a separate AI design platform; this page is an educational reference.

About this collection

These 99 prompts and their example images are collected from promptlibrary.org and were generated with Midjourney. They’re shown here for reference and credited to their creators.

  • Results vary. The same prompt produces a different image each run, so examples show the style, not a guaranteed output.
  • Parameters change between versions. Flags like --v and --style behave differently across Midjourney releases.
  • Midjourney is a separate, paid tool by Midjourney, Inc. — running these in Midjourney needs a subscription. You can also adapt them in the Pixazo AI Image Generator.
  • Not affiliated. Midjourney is a trademark of Midjourney, Inc. and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Pixazo.
